Focus on: Lighting
Today we’re looking at some of the beautiful lamps and shades available from our ‘Rita Says’ partners, who I think offer some of the very best lighting options available today. Hope you like them as much as I do!
Matilda Goad’s scallop edged lampshades grace some of the chicest houses around. Her shades come in small, medium and large sizes and you can find them, plus other goodies like her beeswax candles and beautiful gold striped ceramic jugs on her website. You can also check out our interview with Matilda here.
After doing amazing things with Sofa.com, Rohan Blacker turned his attention to lighting and started Pooky. The company specialises in creating beautiful, decorative lighting that doesn’t cost a fortune, with lampshades, lamps and pendant lights coming in an extraordinary range of shapes, sizes and materials. The good news is their January sale is still on, here are our top picks.
Enamel Shades does exactly what it says on the tin; their enamel lamp shades are simple, classic and best of all, affordable. They also make wonderful braided cable in all kinds of colours a from a simple cream to a red white and blue combo. You can chose either woven (good for table lamps), or round (better for pendants). Their shades are fantastic for kitchens, eating areas and offices (we have them at Rita Konig HQ).
Pentreath and Hall is full of beautiful and eclectic things for the home. It’s owned by Ben Pentreath and Bridie Hall (who is also a designer-maker herself, producing everything from decoupage items to furniture). These beautiful marble paper shades are made for specially for them in the UK. Have a read of our interview with Bridie here to find out more.

Viola Lanari’s hand made plaster lamps are works of art in their own right. I met Viola last yer when I visited her studio and have since bought her lamps for both client projects and my own home. I’m so thrilled that her lamps are now stocked in our online shop.
